Usable products designed and developed with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Who Am I?

Adam McIntyre is a New York City-based web professional with 11+ years experience designing, developing, and improving web sites. I started building sites in high school; from that point on I've gone to design and build sites for audiences ranging from college kids to professionals earning over $100k a year. I've designed, developed, tested, and evaulated sites for small entities, Fortune 500 companies, small audiences and large audiences. I've also written a thorough thesis on web usability and user experience testing methods.

So, what technologies do I use? I proudly count myself experienced in 11 programming languages, but prefer to develop back end architectures in Ruby on Rails and front end architectures in CSS, JavaScript, and HTML (with a strict dtd, of course). I'm one of the few people that I know considered to be a CSS and HTML guru, and consider cross-browser development to be a strong suit. As for Ruby on Rails, I make sure to plug it to my Java developer friends as often as possible to their chagrin. I built Phondoo.com with Ruby on Rails, CSS, HTML, and the JavaScript I mention below.

I've written more JavaScript that I like to admit, and currently use the Dojo and YUI libraries in designing and developing complicated interactions. I have used JavaScript to create rich interfaces that do anything from storing hundreds of jobs to making survey taking a simple AJAX-powered action.

Web 2.0? AJAX? I'm a firm believer in not only the technologies behind them, but the benefits to usability that the proper use of these ideas promises. Usability and user experience make or break a website. I have conducted enough evaluations and user tests and run enough heuristic reviews to personally vouch for the power of user experience.

I live in the New York City area and was born and raised outside of Niagara Falls, in the great region of Western New York.
